Royal visitors

“I was interested to see the recent photograph of Meigle in the column,” emails Alex Dunbar.

“The house in the foreground is Eskielawn (see below). My grandmother bought this house in the mid 1950s and lived here for a few years while she had the Kinloch Arms just along the road.

“The photograph shows a busy day at the hotel, but I think it may have been one of the days on which the Queen attended the service at the parish church next door.

“We looked out the side windows of the hotel to see the Royal party enter and leave the service. I think at this time the royal family used to stay at Drumkilbo.”
