Scott hopes for better luck in Kuala Lumpur

-

World No 6 Adam Scott heads a limited field of 78 players at the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur.

Patrick Reed, fresh from his triumphant Ryder Cup campaign along with Ryan Moore, Sergio Garcia and Vijay Singh, are all set to take part in the PGA Tour event, which gets under way today.

Ian Poulter – a European team vice-captain at Hazeltine earlier this month – is scheduled for a return to tour action having been out since May because of a foot injury.

At last year’s CIMB Classic, Scott missed a long eagle attempt on the 18th which could have forced a play-off.

The Australian hopes for better fortune on his return to Kuala Lumpur as focus turns sharply towards the 2017 campaign.

“It’s nice to be able to have this event with FedExCup points, and next week, HSBC Champions (World Golf Championships), and try and get off to a bit of a flyer,” said Scott.

“There’s a good field, so it is going to be tough and (you) need to play some good golf.”

World No 7 Reed, 26, will tee off for the first time since helping the USA beat Europe at Hazeltine, his 3-1 performance including a defeat of Rory McIlroy in the singles.
