Dods heartened by injuries ‘easing off’

-

Darren Dods is hoping the return of Andy Jackson and Alan Trouten will help end a three-game goal drought.

The Brechin City boss is relieved to see his injury list shorten, with Jackson, Trouten and Finn Graham making substitute comebacks in the 2-0 defeat to Queen’s Park on Saturday.

Hosting Albion Rovers this evening, Dods knows where his team need to improve.

“We could still be playing now and we wouldn’t have scored at the weekend,” he reflected.

“The only positive was that the guys got the last 20 minutes or so. The injuries are easing off a bit and they’re in contention to start. It’s good to have the opportunity to change things up a bit.”

He added: “We didn’t work them hard enough on Saturday, and hopefully that is out of our system.”

Dods is looking up and down the table for motivation in this game.

“If we win we can go one point off Airdrie, who are above us,” he said.

“And it would open up the gap to fifth-placed Queen’s Park to eight points as far as the play-off places are concerned.”

Rovers player-manager Darren Young is hoping a sense of injustice will inspire his side to a win at Glebe Park.

Young said: “We are still sore about the penalty decision that gave Livingston their late winner.”

Alan Reid is missing after being sent-off in the aftermath of the spot-kick decision, with Kyle Turnbull remaining out injured.
