A bubbly girl who ‘lived for her dogs’

- Craig Smith

Tributes have been paid to Rebecca by local dog lovers who knew her as a “bright and bubbly” character.

The 26-year-old was well known to members of the sled dog community in Fife and beyond and is listed as a director of the Burntisland-based Active Woofers company, which sold dog collars, leads, harnesses and other equipment.

She was also a former member of the Sled Dog Association of Scotland, and organisers of this weekend’s sled dog race at Darnaway Forest in Moray will hold a minute’s silence in her memory at the mushers meeting.

There will also be a collection at the event which will go towards one of Rebecca’s favourite dog charities.

A spokesman for the SDAS said: “Our thoughts go out to her friends and family at this difficult time, especially so close to Christmas, a time to be with your loved ones.”

He continued: “Rebecca, who lived for her dogs, was a bright and bubbly young woman who will be missed within the sled dog community.”

Billy Allen, the owner of Bonzos The Dog Shop in Kirkcaldy, said: “Her trip to Finland should have been the happiest days of her life.

“It was what she always talked of doing.”
