Fodder beet and neep competitions
Fife Agricultural Association’s annual fodder beet and turnip competitions have been judged after healthy competition in all classes.
Only eight tonnes separated the top six places in the fodder beet competition, and in first place, and winner of the Danskin trophy, was John Lyle and Co, Nether Pratis with 56t/ acre.
In second place was JM and W Turnbull, Boghall, with 53t/ acre and third was A Mylius and Partners with 50t/acre.
The RS Walker silver challenge trophy for the best managed field was awarded to William Craig and Son, Kinnaird Farm who grew 63t/ acre of turnips.
In second place were G Berwick and Son, Barbarafield, with 61t/acre and third were HC Maitland and Partners, Higham with 58t/acre.
East Fife JAC has announced the results of its annual ploughing match.
Junior – 1 Iain Redpath, 2 Ben Proven, 3 Alex Black and Drew Falkner.
YF Class – 1 Stephen Brown, 2 Murray Peddie, 3 James Connolly,
Open Class – 1 Liam Black, 2 Archie Findlay, 3 Stephen Eccles.
