Search for talented games designers
Thousands of pounds of funding is up for grabs in a competition aimed at developing a new generation of computer game designers.
The Dundee-based UK Games Talent and Finance Community Interest Company, which is part of the wider UK Games Fund, has opened up its Tranzfuser 2017 contest for applications.
The first competition last year saw 18 teams from across the UK work with a £5,000 prize to develop their games.
Some of the teams eventually got to showcase their projects in front of a panel of judges and thousands of gaming fans at Birmingham’s EGX festival.
Commercialisation grants of between £10,000 and £25,000 were awarded by the UK Games Fund to the teams with the best projects.
Deborah Farley. head of talent and outreach at UK Games Talent and Finance CIC, said the standard set in the inaugural competition was incredibly high and she urged new design teams to get involved in Tranzfuser 2017.
“We were delighted to see six of the teams receive UK Games Fund grant funding and to continue our support of them,” Mrs Farley said.
“This year we will be building on this success with more opportunities for teams to get involved, continued support during the competition and a showcase event to remember.
“This is a fabulous opportunity for any graduates looking to break into the UK games industry, don’t miss out.”
