Abellio in partial rail sale

ScotRail franchisee Abellio is selling off 40% of its Greater Anglia rail operation to Japan’s Mitsui.

The group said the joint venture (JV) will lead to improvements for passengers, but the RMT union said it showed the network is “up for grabs”, making a “mockery” of the franchising process.

Abellio said the move fulfiled its objective to find a partner to run Greater Anglia on a 60:40 JV basis.
