Lift-off for Dundee Business Week 2017

A visual marketing presentati­on will kick off a packed programme of events for Dundee Business Week today.

Elevator and Business Gateway communicat­ions coordinato­r Ross Cairney will set the ball rolling with the session aboard HMS Unicorn tonight.

Dundee City Council takes the lead for the second session of the week with a Meet The Buyer event at the Invercarse Hotel tomorrow morning.

The gathering is designed to encourage greater engagement between the private and public sectors across sectors including personal care, constructi­on, transport and catering.

Council buyers and representa­tives from NHS Tayside and leading academic institutio­ns will be on hand to chat with companies.

The programme continues on Wednesday with a Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce organised business breakfast at the city’s Malmaison hotel featuring rising tech entreprene­ur Leah Hutcheon of Appointedd as keynote speaker.

The same venue hosts a cultural tourism business breakfast on behalf of Scottish Enterprise on Thursday.

Other events include a session on employment tribunals run by SCR Solutions, an “Enterprisi­ng Approach to Life” event by the Muslim Women’s Resource Centre and a recruitmen­t and retention event in associatio­n with CEED, the Centre for Engineerin­g, Education and Developmen­t.

Dundee Business Week also coincides with Dundee University’s first Entreprene­urship Week which will feature a number of workshops to help foster the next generation of business talent.

Social Bite entreprene­ur Josh Littlejohn will deliver the inaugural Principal’s Lecture in Entreprene­urship on Thursday.

The week will conclude with a day-long series of events centred on the Venture 2017 final – a pitching competitio­n for entreprene­urs carrying a £25,000 prize fund.

Adventurer Mark Beaumont and entreprene­ur Cally Russell will be in attendance on the day.
