Limousin bulls sold to a top of 30,000gn at the early spring show and sale in Carlisle.

Leading the charge at Harrison and Hetheringt­on’s Borderway Mart in Carlisle was October 2015-born Swalesmoor Liam from the Swalesmoor Partnershi­p at Kedzlie Farm, Lauderdale in the Borders.

An embryo transfer son of Cloughhead Umpire, and out of the 9,000gn Nebo Favourite, he sold jointly to Messrs Ridley of Haltcliffe, Wigton, Cumbria, and RS Harker and Son, Grayrigg Hall, Kendal, Cumbria.

Next best at 22,000gn was the junior champion from A and D Proctor, Swarland Old Hall, Morpeth, Northumber­land.

September 2015-born Swarland Likelylad is by Fairy water Haig and out of Swarland Fanciful. He sold to Neil and Stuart Barclay’s Harestone herd at Insch, Aberdeensh­ire.

The reserve junior champion was Guneerflee­t Lion, by Gunnerflee­t Hicks and out of Gunnerflee­t Ilocks, from Ian Handley, Gunnerflee­t Farm, Ingleton, Lancashire.

He sold for 22,000gn to Messrs Jenkinson, Clifton Moor, Penrith, Cumbria.

Other leading prices included 18,000gn for August 2015-born Westpit Lowry from Jim and Andrew Gammie at Drumforber, Laurenceki­rk.

An AI son of Ardglasson Highlander and out of Brockhurst Holy, he sold to Ian Nimmo’s Maraiscote herd at Bogside Farm, Newmains, Wishaw.

Females topped at 5,800gn for yearling heifer Barrons Maisy from W Barron, Morrow Edge Farm, Durham.

By Mereside Godolphin and out of Barrons Hansy, she sold to W Richardson, Ghyll House, Cumbria.

The averages were: 114 bulls £6,668.42 (up £1,057.98); 40 females £2,404.50 (change n/a).
