Scone extend run to take over at top

-

Scone Thistle continued their incredible run with a 5-2 home win over Lochore Welfare at Farquharson Park.

The win made it seven wins on the spin for Derek Lawson’s side and takes the Perth side to the top of the North Division.

Arran McKay got Thistle up and running after just two minutes and a trialist made it two after 12. Lochore pulled a deserved goal back on the half-hour but two goals from Fraser Mills within 10 minutes of the restart took Scone out of reach.

The visitors never gave up and scored a second on 66 minutes but Ben Moffatt popped up four minutes later to restore the three-goal lead and ultimately seal the points.

Scone were able to take over top spot with Thornton’s clash with Coupar Angus being postponed and Kirriemuir Thistle in cup action.

Their situation was also helped by rivals Blairgowrie and Kinnoull both being held to 1-1 draws.

East Craigie scored both goals in their draw with Blair at Davie Park.

Liam McCartney scored for the Shipbuilders and the Blair goal came from an own goal.

Kinnoull huffed and puffed at Lochee Harp and had to wait until the 82nd minute to equalise against the 10-man hosts.

Harp took the lead on 10 minutes through Derryn Kesson.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Sam McDonald was shown a second yellow card and the 10 men held firm until Dominic Blair, making his debut on loan from Downfield, hit a deserved equaliser.

North End ran riot against a lacklustre Arbroath Vics, routing the visitors 7-0.

Dayle Robertson helped himself to five goals with Zak Wilson and Euan McIlvenney helping out.

The Dokens took the lead on eight minutes and Vics were reduced to 10 men just after the first goal.

Vics had their goalkeeper sent off with 15 minutes to go but by then Andy Heggie’s side were 7-0 in front.

Newburgh had to come from behind and settle for a point against Brechin Vics at East Shore Park.

Vics took the lead on the hour mark against the run of play but that lead lasted just four minutes before Liam Keiller levelled things up.
