Alert over Ballater device
A block of flats was evacuated in Ballater following the discovery of an “unexploded device”.
Police were called to Braichlie Road in the Aberdeenshire village at around 11am yesterday and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was also in attendance. Police later said it turned out to be a deactivated device from the Second World War which had “no explosive capability”.
Inspector Megan Heathershaw said: “There was no threat to the public at any stage.”
