Asking price for a home with a view cut to £1.65m

-

A home overlooking the 18th hole of the Old Course in St Andrews has had £100,000 shaved off the price after failing to sell.

Despite staking a claim to being the golf fan’s ultimate dream home, 19 Pilmour Links has not found a buyer almost 18 months after it was put on the market for £1.75 million.

Sellers Savills confirmed they had dropped the price to £1.65m.

Built in 1826, sketches from the time show the house was the only property to overlook the course when golf was first played there.

It predates the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse, which was built in 1854.

The refurbished Georgian house boasts four bedroom suites, a library and its very own golf club store.

It also features a sought-after parking space in St Andrews town centre and a home cinema.

The property is built next to The Links – which has been named as the most expensive street in Scotland – and sits on the corner of the famous Granny Clark’s Wynd.

The house was once the home of famous Scots architect Sir Robert Lambert Playfair.
