Skate park targeted by vandals will be given new lease of life

-

A Glenrothes skate park that was recently vandalised is in line for improvements worth thousands of pounds.

Several ramps at the Tanshall Skate Park were deliberately damaged over the festive period, with fires started underneath some of the structures, making them unsafe to use.

However, it is understood plans to regenerate the site are now in the pipeline, with new fitness equipment, sports surfaces and markings, as well as new skate ramps, all having been suggested.

Any proposals are likely to be subject to consultation before they are carried forward, however. Funding for the upgrades will come from the council’s capital plan.

Councillor Altany Craik, who was particularly critical of the vandals who targeted the park in the winter, said that investing in the facility was good news for the local community.

“We want a play area that delivers for the kids in Tanshall and surrounding precincts,” he said.

“A safe, modern park that we will consult on and together get what is needed.”
