Mum’s the word for artistic Coaltown of Balgonie pupils

-

Pupils in P3/4 at Coaltown of Balgonie Primary School loved entering The Courier’s Draw Your Mum, which attracted more than 4,000 pupils across the area.

The children put a lot of thought into the fun, free project, and you can see the fruits of their hard work in today’s paper.

Omraj Bookher enjoyed drawing and colouring his picture, while Lexi Connolly thought hard about her special message. The children also had good advice on how to produce masterpieces to be proud of.

“Add detail,” suggested Jack Stewart, while Caleb Mooney recommended drawing carefully and taking your time.

Other excellent suggestions from Harry Featherstone and Leon Hastie included making the pictures bright and colourful and trying your best.

As we all know, mums are special for lots of reasons and the pupils had a touching list of what they loved about their own mothers – mums take care of you, help you sleep and get you nice and cosy, make dinner and give love.

They also take you places, give you hugs and kisses, help and comfort you and make you feel better. And they’ll be backing up their words with actions by taking their mums out somewhere nice like a meal or a movie, or making her dinner, buying flowers and chocolates and creating a special gift.

The children couldn’t wait for their mums to find their pictures in today’s special supplement and predict comments like: “I love it”: “I can’t believe my picture is in the paper” and “That is beautiful.”

Class teacher Mr Gibson was proud of the way his class applied themselves to the project and the end results, saying: “The pupils really enjoyed making something lovely for their mums.”

Look out for our final Draw Your Mum supplement in tomorrow’s Courier – and meet some of the mums at Leuchars and Newport primary schools.
