Businesses rally together to launch rateable values challenge

-

Around 20 St Andrews businesses have joined forces to contest new rateable values.

The move follows the announcement of new rateable values in the town which could see some business rates rise by as much as 300%.

BID St Andrews recently held an event with valuation experts GVA James Barr where a number of local businesses heard there was strength in numbers in launching an appeal.

“We are concerned about what the new valuations could mean for the town,” said BID manager Rhonda McCrimmon,

“We believe the more businesses who work together to contest their valuation, the better the chance of seeing some success in achieving reductions.”
