Dundee derby tops the bill
The second Dundee derby of the season hogs the national spotlight tomorrow with MJV Wanderers hosting Grove Menzieshill at Dalnacraig, writes our women’s hockey correspondent.
The 17-point gap between table-toppers Grove and fifthplaced Wanderers indicates ‘no contest’ but that wasn’t the case in November when the former champions had to rely on youth internationalist Jenny Walls to see them over the line.
Title rivals and defending champions Edinburgh University are expected to keep the pressure on Grove with wins over teams in the lower reaches.
Dundee University are unlikely to get any change from their division 2 trip to promotion-seeking Grange.
Championship A interest is centred on Kinross v Grove Menzieshill A with anything other than a home win being bad news for the hosts.
Perthshire and Dundee University II have struggled in Championship B, a situation that has little prospect of improvement over the weekend. St Andrews II are much better placed to succeed if they can take their regular squad to Ayr.
Madras could secure the Midland championship this weekend. Full points against Dundee University III and Blairgowrie would put them out of reach of Perthshire II.
Victory for Kinross II over Perthshire II would claim the second division title. Fixtures
