Accolade for Michelin boss
The general manager of Michelin’s Dundee tyre production plant has scooped a top industry award.
John Reid – whose business strategy drove the once closure-threatened Dundee plant into a new era as one of the group’s top-performing factories – was named as Tayside regional director of the year at the annual IoD Scotland dinner in Glasgow.
The event saw a total of 15 executives recognised for their contribution to business.
Hydro Group chief executive Douglas Whyte took the director of the year title for large business, with Jennifer MacKenzie-Hallwood of TEFL Org UK taking the prize for mid-sized organisations.
The small business award went to Tom Campbell, CEO of North Highland Initiative.
Fife and Central Scotland director of the year was Stirling-based Keep Scotland Beautiful CEO Derek Robertson.
The female director prize went to Shirley Campbell, director for people, workplace and organisational development at Fife-based Scottish Water.
David Watt, executive director of IoD Scotland, said all of the award winners are “effective and dynamic leaders, full of ambitions and creativity”.
