Wheelie good fun to be had on new country park bike trails
Lochore Meadows’ new £129,000 mountain bike trails are now open.
Work on the new trails started at the end of last year and has finished on time and on budget.
The tracks aim to allow Fife Council’s outdoor education team to attract more specialist groups, such as vulnerable groups from schools, community learning programmes and the local community.
It is hoped they will also help to attract groups and visitors from further afield.
Outdoor learning manager Ali Dreyer said: “Lochore Meadows now has a fantastic network of trails that will be a real asset to the local community.
“This work builds on the success of the Meedies Bike Club and demonstrates the strong partnership working they have with the outdoor education centre in the park.”
As part of the project, walking paths have also been reinstated and tonnes of rubbish collected from the beauty spot.
The new trails are the start to a much wider investment programme for Lochore Meadows which will see a new visitor centre, golf club house and pavilion being built.
Sports partnership manager Andy MacLellan said: “As one of Scotland’s top free visitor attractions it’s great to see this investment being delivered for Lochore Meadows Country Park.”
