Dunfermline woman fined for hurling abuse at daughter-in-law

-

A woman screamed obscenities at her daughter-in-law while she waited at a bus stop with her four young children.

Jacqueline McPhee drew her silver Mercedes alongside the woman and shouted expletives at her.

Perth Sheriff Court heard that her daughter-in-law had to go into a sweet shop to escape the confrontation.

Depute fiscal Lisa Marshall said: “At about 1.45pm the complainer was waiting at the bus stop with her four young children.

“She was aware of the accused’s silver Mercedes driving towards her.

“There had been previous confrontations with the accused so the complainer took her children across the road to avoid contact.”

Once level with the complainer, McPhee called her an offensive name, telling her “you are not going to get away with it this time” and shaking her fists.

The complainer retreated to the sweet shop, where she called the police.

Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said there has been tensions between the 51-yearold and her son.

He said: “This was an unpleasant situation in that the complainer is the daughter-inlaw of the accused.

“As a result of previous differences, the accused and her son are now noncommunicative.”

McPhee, of Kingfisher Place, Dunfermline, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner on High Street, Auchterarder, by repeatedly shouting, swearing and gesticulating in a threatening manner on October 31 last year.

Sheriff Gillian Wade fined her £450.
