Fife’s energy and renewables skills promoted at conference
Fife will be promoted as key player in renewable energy and a place to invest at an industry conference next month.
Several kingdom companies and Fife Council officers will take part in All-Energy at Glasgow’s SECC.
They will demonstrate the region’s expertise in areas including energy efficiency, carbon capture and storage and marine renewables to industry leaders and potential customers.
George Sneddon, the council’s economic development service manager, said: “All-Energy offers an excellent opportunity to showcase Fife as the best place to live, work and do business, by highlighting our specific strengths and capabilities in the renewable technologies sector.
“Fife is a key hub for the energy and renewables sectors.
“We have a robust skills and knowledge base, and the region is already home to a wide range of pioneering projects.
“All-Energy is important for Fife Council and for local companies to attend so that we can develop new business leads and contacts to showcase the region’s potential and further develop the local economy.”
The council’s economic development team will support 13 organisations to attend the event on May 10 and 11, including Briggs Marine and Environmental Services, ORE Catapult, Utility ROV Services, BVG Associates and Green Acorn.
Its renewables lead officer Barbara Whiting will also deliver a presentation on the Levenmouth Community Energy project which aims to demonstrate how green hydrogen can tackle two of Scotland’s biggest energy challenges, storage of intermittent renewable energy and reducing transport emissions.
