Clothes that don’t cost the earth

-

Greener Kirkcaldy is holding a fashion revolution week to ensure clothes don’t come at the cost of people or the planet.

The environmental charity will help the public find out more about where their clothes come from and the impact they are having on the planet during the four-day event in their High Street hub.

Volunteers are asking people to take photos of their clothes labels, pop into the hub between April 26 and 29 and ask: “Who made my clothes?”.

They will also be giving out tips and information on caring for your clothes, making repairs and making the most out of items of clothing.

The event is part of Greener Kirkcaldy’s Love Your Clothes campaign.

They will be running various events, talks and practical workshops throughout the year to encourage local people to choose clothes wisely and make the most of old items.

“We’ve found that people often hoard clothes,” said Kitty O’Connor from Greener Kirkcaldy.

“These events should offer creative solutions to the problem of what to do with old or unwanted clothes, as well as raising awareness of the environmental impact of the clothing industry and clothing waste.”

For more information see the Greener Kirkcaldy website at www.greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk.

The hub at 254a High Street is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.
