Saints count cost of own goal

-

St Andrews United have managed to shoot themselves in the foot throughout this season.

This time it was a Michael Perrie own goal on the hour that gave Arniston Rangers a point after player manager Craig Morrison put Saints in front after 17 minutes.

Visitors Haddington defeated Downfield with an 18th-minute Paul Devlin goal.

Kevin Milne, who was returning after suspension, was sent off.

Reece Boyle gave Bathgate Thistle the lead after two minutes at Creamery Park, but Tayport came roaring back to win 3-1 with goals from Dale Reid, Gary Sutherland and Sergio Alvarez. Tayport move into the top five. Forfar West End know six points from their last two games will put them in the Super league after they won 4-0 at home to Dundee Violet.

The scorers were David Rae, Matty Ramsay and Graeme Hart with two, including a penalty after Violet were reduced to 10 men.

West End face Bathgate Thistle next weekend before hosting Sauchie the following weekend.

Sauchie continued their title push with a 3-1 win at Glenrothes through Iain Syme, Brian Morgan (penalty) and David Morrison.

The consolation was a wonder strike from half-way by a trialist.

Kennoway knew they had to beat Whitburn to keep the pressure on Forfar West End for the automatic promotion place, and at the same time do neighbours St Andrews United a favour.

Gavin Gray opened the scoring for the Fife side on 25 minutes and an own goal increased the lead.

Greg Skinner pulled a goal back for Whitburn just after half time .

Matty Gay restored the cushion on 77 minutes, and Ross Brewster put the icing on the cake.
