‘No fear’ facing Pittodrie men: Lennon

-

Neil Lennon insists Hibs can go into Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final with Aberdeen with ‘no fear’ after last year’s historic triumph.

The Easter Road men are desperate to defend the trophy they scooped in dramatic circumstances against Rangers last May.

Lennon is aware his Championshipwinning side will face their toughest challenge yet against the high-flying Dons, who he is full of admiration for.

However, the former Celtic boss has urged his squad to be buoyed by the belief of ridding the club of its 114-year hoodoo in the competition last season.

He said: “Aberdeen have been on a great run and Derek has done a fantastic job there.

“But, like every team, they’re beatable and we have proven we can play against the big teams very well.

“The players will have no fear going into the game.

“They just have to handle the occasion and the good thing about that is they’ve had that experience of last season.”

Hibs have proven their knock-out credentials in recent years, with the team also reaching the League Cup final last term before losing out in agonising fashion against Ross County.

Lennon added: “Every semi-final is different and I’ve already said to the players that no one remembers the semifinalists. So, get to the final, go again.”
