Bumper field for sidecar racing

-

There will be an unprecedented Scottish sidecar entry for this weekend’s racing at Knockhill.

The Scottish sidecar racing championship has seen a phenomenal resurgence this season.

The Fife track said that was primarily down to the long, hard efforts of the Scottish Sidecar Racing Club chairman Gavin Brown and a generous donation to the club by businessman Boris Stroud.

With Mr Stroud’s financial injection, entry fees for the riders have been subsidised and an end of season prize fund has been created.

With the continued efforts by Mr Brown to contact racers, both locally and nationally, 17 sidecar entries have been received already.

There is the prospect of the number of entrants rising to 20 as the season continues.

The Marin Scottish Sidecar Cup is run over four rounds with two at Knockhill and two at East Fortune.

This is the title that the sidecar racers will be aiming for.

But they will also have their eyes on the prestigious Jock Taylor trophy which is held in September at Knockhill.

Included within the entries is Yvonne Davidson, who is the niece of the 1980 world champion Jock Taylor.

She is making her debut on a Formula 2 sidecar belonging to Mr Stroud.

Admission to Sunday’s event is £15 at the gate for adults or £13 for concessions, with under 12s getting in free of charge.
