Man dies, two others injured in A9 crash

25-year-old driver killed and two people cut free from their vehicles and taken to hospital

A man has died following a three-vehicle crash on the A9 on Thursday night.

Two men were cut free from their vehicles in the crash, which took place at around 6.25pm on the southbound A9 near the Keir roundabout.

The crash involved a heavy goods vehicle, a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Honda Civic.

A police spokeswoma­n said: “The 25-year-old driver in the Honda Civic sadly died as a result.

“The 26-year-old female passenger in the Honda Civic was seriously injured and remains in hospital and the 41-yearold driver of the Mercedes Sprinter was also injured and remains in hospital.

“The A9 was closed in both directions and reopened around midnight.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Sergeant Michael Montague of Forth Valley Road Policing Unit said: “A man has died in this collision and a passenger and one other driver seriously injured and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.”

Fire crews from Dunblane, Doune, Bridge of Allan and Stirling all attended and the road was closed in both directions for some time as emergency workers treated those involved.

An air ambulance – Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance Helimed 76, based at Perth – was called upon and the affected stretch of the A9 northbound had to be closed temporaril­y to allow the helicopter to land.

It is understood to have left the scene shortly before 8pm.
