Two charged after drugs raid

-

Two men have been arrested and charged after £10,000 worth of cannabis plants were discovered during a police raid in Glenrothes earlier this week.

Officers searched a residential property in Durness Court on Wednesday following tip-offs from the local community.

A number of cannabis plants and various items of drugs paraphernalia were recovered during the operation.

A total of £1,800 in cash was also seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The two men, who are aged 56-years-old and 50-years-old, are expected to make an appearance at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in due course.

Sergeant Chris Mutter, of Glenrothes Police Station, said the drugs raid had not been possible without community intelligence.

“These arrests are part of our ‘You Said, We Did’ campaign launched by Police in Glenrothes to act on priorities set by the local community,” he said.

“The current priorities identified from the ‘Your View Counts’ community survey are driver behaviour, misuse of drugs, antisocial behaviour and violence.

“Our new campaign aims to provide the community with regular updates showing how we’re tackling these issues.”

Officers say regular updates on the ongoing Police Scotland campaign will be given via social media – particularly the Glenrothes Twitter account @GlenrothesPol – and in the regular community meetings attended by officers.
