Green Hotel, Kinross, May 2
Tender acoustic folk music awaits at Tia McGraff’s Kinross show.
The Canadian singersongwriter’s haunting vocals and lyrical narratives have both invited comparisons with her countryman Gordon Lightfoot and earned her a global fanbase.
McGraff’s sixth album Crazy Beautiful, which was produced by her husband and longtime collaborator Tommy Parham, has featured on Americana radio on both sides of the Atlantic since its 2015 release.
The couple first met in Nashville where staff songwriter Parham penned music for the likes of God Bless the USA hitmaker Lee Greenwood.
Now based in McGraff’s home province Ontario, the twin guitarists regularly play concerts in the UK and Europe, with material that has more than a passing nod to the greats of folk and country.
“I loved Leonard Cohen and the melodic vocals of Joni Mitchell and Anne Murray,” says Tia.
“Tommy’s influences include The Eagles and Jackson Browne. Nashville has also been a big influence, as has Texas.”
