The best net scores at the R&A Spring meeting yesterday were a brace of 67s returned by 63-year-old Donald Coid (16, Cottesloe, Western Australia) and 57-year-old Stuart Graham (6, Panmure). Don Coid’s was the better score in count-back over the last nine holes while Stuart Graham’s 73 was the lowest gross of the day.

Marian Thannhäuse­r, from Hamburg, playing late in the morning with Stuart Duncan (from Sao Paulo) and Tim Smartt (from Rye), returned a net 73 (10), putting her above Margaret MacNaughta­n in the women’s competitio­n standings.

Claire Dowling, the winner at last year’s Spring Meeting, will play today.
