Repeat Dunfermline flasher disappears ahead of sentencing

-

A repeat flasher who exposed himself in front of women in Dunfermline twice within a few weeks has gone AWOL.

Polish national Marcin Trendel had denied the offences right up until a trial was about to start at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, when he finally admitted his guilt.

However, sentencing was delayed so reports could be carried out and Trendel failed to return to court.

On July 21 last year in Mill Street, he conducted an offence of public indecency by exposing himself.

He also admitted committing the same offence in Transy Place on August 27.

Depute fiscal Claire Bremner said that in the first offence Trendel was seen exposing himself by a 32-year-old woman in Mill Street.

In the latter incident, he was seen by two sisters.

The witnesses were in court and screens had been put up for them to give evidence before Trendel, 39, of Beatty Place, Dunfermline, accompanied by a Polish translator, submitted his guilty pleas in March.

Defence solicitor Ian Beatson said at that time his client worked for six weeks at a time in Scotland before going back to Poland.

The sheriff even allowed extra time for social work reports to be prepared after being told Trendel would be travelling back to Poland for a short period.

He was given the date to return for sentencing but failed to turn up.

Mr Beatson said, “We’ve not been able to get him on the phone. He may be out of the country.”

Sheriff Valerie Johnston granted a non-appearance warrant.
