Sunny outlook as dry spell here to stay for the foreseeable future

- KIRSTY MCINTOSH

Courier Country’s dry spell is set to continue into next week, weather experts have said.

The Met Office is predicting that the stable high pressure over the UK will remain until at least Monday, resulting in warm weather and minimal chance of any rainfall.

Strathallan airfield in Perthshire has seen the highest temperatures anywhere in the region, with the mercury hitting a high of almost 18 degrees on Wednesday.

The site also topped the temperature chart on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, with the lowest temperature being recorded as 12.7 degrees.

Courier Country has not seen any rainfall since April 24, when 1.8mm was recorded at Leuchars in Fife.

A spokeswoman for the Met Office said temperatures were set to remain high for the next few days.

She said: “It’s going to stay sunny through the weekend, with temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees. Friday and Saturday are looking to be particularly good.

“Sunday will see a chance of some cloud but where the sun breaks through it will be warm.

“The start of next week is looking much the same, although the temperature will be slightly down on Monday – maybe by a degree or two.

“High pressure is dominating and that’s resulting in stable conditions. There’s very little risk of seeing rainfall at all.

“Night temperatures will be around five to seven degrees, depending on where you are in the region.” See more on the weather in farming
