Kelty’s tricky away trip to face Tranent

-

Kelty Hearts have a tricky tie away to Tranent in the quarter-finals of the Conservatory Converters (F&L) Cup.

Their Premier League hosts are fourth in the table and therefore no slouches, but it would still be a surprise if the Super League leaders don’t progress. Premier League Downfield welcome Arniston Rangers and hope to complete a double over the visitors.

With victories in their last two outings, at Armadale and St Andrews, Paul Marr’s side will be confident of making it three straight victories, though Mark Bannon and Craig Smith are ruled out through injury.

Tayport can do Forfar West End a favour if they can win away at Sauchie.

For most of the season, the assumption has been that Sauchie would be champions – now the first doubts over them going up automatically have filtered through.

Last week’s 3-0 defeat at Forfar West End meant the Beechwood side have taken only four points from their last four games.

The 2-2 draw in the first meeting shows Port can again upset the odds, though Gregor Anderson, rested last week because of a hamstring injury, is still a doubt.

Only three points from the visit of Haddington will put a stay of execution on Violet’s demotion.

As has been the case almost every week, manager Ralph Henderson has nothing like a full squad with Connor McLeod added to the injured list alongside Barry Wilson, Aaron Kane and Ciaran Conway.
