Centre to host taster sessions ahead of Fife Science Festival

-

A “science busking” event will be held in Glenrothes later this month to give families a taste of what this year’s Fife Science Festival has to offer.

Staff from Dundee Science Centre will be leading a range of free interactive activities from 11am to 3pm on Sunday May 21 in the Lyon Square area of the Kingdom Shopping Centre in Glenrothes.

Topics from forensic science to life as an astronaut will be explored.

It is being held ahead of major family events at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre on May 27 and 28 and the Lomond Centre, Glenrothes, on June 3 and 4.

Rebecca Erskine from Dundee Science Centre said: “Fife Science Festival is an annual event for everyone to experience and enjoy.

“We are thrilled to be working with Kingdom Shopping Centre again this year to give visitors the chance to get hands-on with science and build up excitement as we gear up for our activity-packed family days in Cowdenbeath and Glenrothes.

“We’re inviting visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in the wonders of science through a variety of topics, from what it’s like living in space to the future of food.”

Visitors will get the chance to learn about fingerprints, try on a spacesuit, learn about life aboard the International Space Station and get to grips with a meteorite that is around 4.6 billion years old.

Fife Science Festival is run by Dundee Science Centre and funded by the Scottish Government, Shell UK, Edina Trust and Fife Council.

It aims to offer a diverse range of activities for visitors of all ages.
