Police hunting man after reports he committed ‘indecent act’

-

Police in Glenrothes have launched an investigation following reports that a man was seen committing an indecent act alongside one of the town’s busiest roads.

The incident occurred at the height of Tuesday evening’s rush hour, on the town’s Western Avenue.

Witnesses have reported seeing a man in a wooded area, adjacent to a public footpath close to the Leslie Roundabout.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 5.10pm, however, police have not issued further details.

The man is described as white, in his twenties, tall, of slim build, wearing a grey hooded zip-up jacket, baggy dark-coloured jeans and had a black rucksack.

Police have launched an urgent appeal for further witnesses to come forward, and believe that two runners and a teenager seen in the area around the time of the incident may hold vital information.

Detective Constable Andy Mitchell of Glenrothes CID said: “We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident, and who may be able to help, to contact us as soon as possible.

“We’re particularly eager to trace two females in their late twenties who were seen jogging and a teenage male who is described as 16-17 years old and was wearing a burgundy zip-up top.

“Anyone with any other information which can assist or who recognises the man’s description is also urged to come forward.”

Those with information can contact Glenrothes CID via 101, quoting incident number 2643 of May 9 2017 or report this anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
