CycloFun family cycling event
A fun cycling event for all the family will be held in Tayport this weekend.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sustrans, which helps create off-road shared paths for walkers and cyclists, the group has teamed up with local Rotary Clubs to help stage the CycloFun family cycling event on Sunday.
Participants can join Sustrans cycle ride leaders on a five-mile ride leaving from the Frigate Unicorn in Dundee at 10am on Sunday, travelling across the Tay Bridge and along the tarmac coastal path to Tayport along the route of the old railway line.
The ride is free, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
The fun does not stop there though, with Tayport football ground providing the base for further CycloFun activities from 11am to 2pm.
There will be rides around a five or eight-mile flat forest trail marshalled route, with medals for children who complete the course, while there will also be a group cycle ride at noon led by qualified Bikeability trainers.
Other activities include a cycling skills course with a bike to borrow if you don’t have one, a nature quiz, stalls, electric bikes and trails skills events.
A spokesperson said: “Groups like Sustrans, the newly-formed Dundee Cycling Forum and Safer Cycling St Andrews are just some of the local groups that have been springing up all across The Courier territory to help more people enjoy the benefits of cycling.”
