Gala day promises to serve up feast of fun for all the family

-

Plans are now well under way for this year’s pirate and princess themed Dalgety Bay and Hillend gala on Saturday June 10.

A team of local mums has been working hard to bring the gala back to life, securing support from businesses and community groups.

The celebrations will kick off at 11am with a parade through the streets from Jubilee Park, followed by the gala at noon in Dalgety Bay Sports Centre.

More than 15 local groups will take part in the parade, which will be led by the “royal” party.

The event is a family day, with three different marquees – the shopping village, Neverland crafts tent and Tinkerbell tent for babies.

The arena will host a range of displays and live entertainment from groups, finishing with an “amazing” secret act.

Throughout the day there will be a range of entertainment for children.

It will be preceded by a gala eve party, from 6pm to 9pm, on Friday June 9.

Zara Napier, co-chairwoman of the gala committee, said: “We hope the community will really get behind this year’s gala. We have been delighted by the response from local businesses and groups who have been very generous with their support.

“We hope everyone will come out in force to see the parade through the streets and cheer on all the local children.”

William McAllister, of sponsors Muir Group, said: “We are proud to sponsor this year’s gala – it’s important to us to work with the local community and this is a great opportunity to support an annual event which is all about bringing the community together.”
