ABDIE. The meeting started off with a gentle exercise session followed by parachute games and then healthy smoothies. AUCHTERMUC­HTY. To celebrate 100 years of the SWRI, members past and present held an afternoon tea at Leckiebank Farm. They enjoyed looking through scrap books and reminiscin­g about past events. President Barbara Acheson had set up all the tables inside and Margaret Whiteford, Fife Federation chairwoman, and Margaret Wytrazek, cut the cake, which had been made by Hazel Cuthbert. At the regular meeting, Barbara Acheson told the sad news that long-time member Agnes Black had died. A minute’s silence was held. Barbara then introduced Bob Beveridge from Falkland who talked of his time as a police officer. Competitio­ns: favourite brooch – 1 Liz Rosser, 2 Ena Hardie; flower of the month – 1 Betty Jamieson, 2 Janette Syme.

AUCHTERTOO­L. President Mrs Thomson welcomed members. Karen Fraser gave a pasta demonstrat­ion and showed how to make it from scratch. Competitio­ns: pasta salad – l Mrs Templeton, 2 Mrs Forrester; flower of the month – Mrs Thomson.

CARNOCK and GOWKHALL. Guest speaker was Roger Stark who gave a talk titled The Future Of Long Life. Competitio­n: individual fruit crumble – 1 Margaret Brown, 2 Julie Porter, 3 Winnie Harvey.

COALTOWN OF BALGONIE. Members met at the Beijing Banquet.

KETTLE. The meeting was at the Kettlebrid­ge Inn where members enjoyed a meal and lots of laughter and chat.

GATESIDE. Pesident Grace Cronie welcomed members. Herbalist Annette Greenfield gave a talk. Competitio­ns: homemade doorstop – 1 Anne Hutton, 2 Agnes Allan, 3 Grace Cronie; flower of the month – Lynda Mitchell; pancakes – 1 Sheila Penman, 2 Agnes Allan.

KINGSBARNS. President Ann Reid welcomed members and Monica Stewart, president, and members of Earlsferry and Elie WRI who were on an interinsti­tute visit. The ladies entertaine­d with a programme of Scottishth­emed items, including recipes, a reading and a quiz. Competitio­ns: fresh flower arrangemen­t in a sugar bowl – Cathie Robertson; knitted square – 1 Jean Crichton, 2 Cathie Robertson; flower of the month – Isobel Stuart.

NEW GILSTON AND WOODSIDE. Jean Carr presided and members were shown a Somerset patchwork demonstrat­ion. There was also a quiz on chocolate and chocolate biscuits, organised by Jackie, and Irene recited poetry.
