Caledonian Marts Ltd in Stirling sold 236 store cattle and young bulls yesterday.

Bullocks averaged 230ppkg selling to 340ppkg for a pen of Simmental X from Pat Wilson Farms and to £1,200 for a Charolais from East Kerse.

Heifers averaged 216ppkg selling to 254ppkg for a British Blue from Easterton, Doune, and to £1,170 for an Aberdeen-Angus from Shutterfla­t, Beith.

Bullocks (nine to 13 months old) – £1,190 Easterton (Graham); £1,140 Cleugh; £1,130 East Kerse.

Heifers (10 to 15 months old) – £1,120 East Kerse and Easterton; £1,060 Camreggan; £1,040 and £1,000 Easterton.

Bullocks – 281p Westfield (Bell); 267p Dyke (MacGregor); 266p Bogside (Nisbet).

Heifers – 246p Dyke; 241p Camreggan.

Also forward 1,028 store hoggets, hoggs with lambs at foot and ewes with lambs at foot.

Top price of the day went to Airthrey Kerse for a pen of Texel X hoggets with twin lambs fetching a bid of £182. Leading prices: Hoggets with lambs at foot: Chev/mule with twins – £180 Loanleven.
