Top per kilo went to Craiglaw at 271ppkg for a pen of Texel x Lambs, overall average 241.2ppkg (-14p on the week) (+42p on the year). Leading prices: Spring lambs per kilo: Suff x – 268p Easter Cash; Tex x – 263p Meikle Seggie; Tex – 261p Easter Coates; Belt – 260p Er Ochtermuth­ill; Cont – 259p Mawcarse; Char – 257p Sauchans. Prime hoggets (503) sold to a top of £116 from JM McDonald, Newbigging, Crieff, and to a top of 238ppkg from G McLaren, Blaircessn­ock, and overall average 185ppkg (-9p on the week) (+36p on the year). Leading hogg prices per kilo: Tex – 231p Blaircessn­ock; Belt – 230p Newbigging; Blue Tex – 225p Birch Avenue; Cont – 225p Borlick; Suff – 215p Birch Avenue; BF 213p Wharlawhil­l. Also forward were 385 cast ewes and tups. Heavy ewes (110) averaged £75.04 selling to £100 twice both for Beltex’s from Easter Ochtermuth­ill and Graystale. Export ewes (222) averaged £49.75.
