Time to Draw Your Dad

With Father’s Day close, P3 and 4s have put their dads in the picture with their fabulous drawings for our Draw Your Dad project, discovers Caroline Lindsay

Thousands of pupils from primaries three and four across Courier Country have taken the opportunity to show their dads how much they mean to them in time for Father’s Day by entering our free Draw Your Dad project.

We have been super-impressed by the standard of the children’s masterpieces and we know their dads will be chuffed to bits when the drawings are published in a series of special supplements in the run-up to Father’s Day on June 18.

The P3 and 4 pupils at Muthill Primary School in Crieff put a lot of thought into their entries.

Class teacher Rachel Bell says: “The pupils enjoyed thinking about their dads and the best way to draw them, taking time and care to brightly colour in their pictures.

“They thought hard about the message they would send their dad, especially as they had a word limit to work within. They are really excited to see the finished product in the paper!”

All the pupils concentrated hard to do their dads justice, including little details like Alasdair’s dad’s tartan jacket, while Martha explained that it meant she could draw all the things her dad liked. She had some wise words too. “It doesn’t matter if it is good, the important thing is how much effort you put into it,” she says.

The pupils all wanted their drawings to show how much they love their dads, and it looks as if fathers all over Courier Country are in for a bit of spoiling when the big day dawns with treats like breakfast in bed, a day out and a special meal on the cards.

According to Fergus, dads deserve a bit of spoiling on Father’s Day because they’re good cooks, while Eilidh chips in: “They love you and are funny but sometimes a bit grumpy.”
