Food festival takes region’s best flavours to harbour and beyond
Foodies are in for a treat this weekend with the return of one of Scotland’s most popular food festivals.
Crail Food Festival will be staged for a seventh year, featuring the famous Sunday Lunch at the Harbour.
Over Saturday and Sunday, events will be held in six venues, including tastings, children’s activities and opportunities to meet chefs and food producers.
An indoor food and drink market will fill Crail Community Hall on Saturday, while street food will be cooked in the Marketgate area, to be washed down with local craft beer and enjoyed to the sound of music.
At the Crail Kirk Hall, Ardross Farm Shop will co-host a cookery theatre with local chefs and producers, including Geoffrey Smeddle and Fife Food Ambassador Christopher Trotter.
Tasting opportunities will be on offer at Crail Legion Hall.
A festival spokesperson said: “With many visitors to Crail Food Festival citing the event as instrumental in their discovery of new favourite food and drink, this is a chance for everyone to try a wide variety of new flavours.
“Sessions include trying local spirits with Kingsbarns Distillery, the opportunity to savour the flavours of World Gin Day with Luvians, cocktails prepared by The Adamson, honey and preserves sampling by Heather Hills, tasting seafood from Langoustine the Box, and local cheese from the awardwinning St Andrews Farmhouse Cheese Company.”
For the duration of the festival the Marine Hotel will be dedicated to children’s activities, including storytelling, face painting and a ceilidh.
