More agony for family as body found in wood is not missing Fife airman Corrie

A body found in a wood in Suffolk does not belong to missing Fife airman Corrie McKeague.

The body was discovered in Brandon Wood on Sunday, leading to speculation it may have belonged to the 23-yearold, who went missing after a night out in Bury St Edmonds on September 24 last year.

Police have been searching the Milton landfill site in Cambridgeshire for Mr McKeague’s body.

His mother Nicola Urquhart posted on the Find Corrie Facebook page: “It is with great sadness I find myself writing another message like this again.

“I do not know the details, only that the person found yesterday in Brandon Woods is not Corrie. My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with their family and loved ones x.”

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary confirmed the body was did not belong to Corrie.

She said: “It was a woman’s body. There are no suspicious circumstances.

“We are still at the Milton landfill site.”

Officers from Suffolk and Norfolk police have been searching for the Dunfermlineborn RAF serviceman.

It later emerged a bin lorry held waste heavy enough to have carried the RAF Honington gunner’s body.

Specialist officers are searching the landfill site and have already sifted through more than 4,430 tonnes of waste.

However, they have not yet found anything connected to Corrie.

His father Martin McKeague said he still believes his son’s body will most likely be found on the site.
