Essential overnight bridge maintenance will begin next week on the M90 at Necessity Brae, near the Broxden Roundabout.

The works will involve replacing some of the bridge deck joints which are in need of repair and should mean a reduction in noise as vehicles pass over the bridge.

To allow repairs to be completed safely, alternate lane closures of the southbound and northbound carriageways will be in place for five nights. A temporary speed limit of 50mph will also be introduced.

The works will begin on Monday and take place from 7.30pm to 5am each night, with no traffic management in place during the daytime.

BEAR Scotland’s Andy Thompson said: “These works will allow us to ensure that the trunk road network remains at the highest standard.

“The repairs are essential to ensure the bridge at Necessity Brae near Broxden remains in a safe condition.

“The lane closures will protect our teams while the bridge maintenance is completed and we’ve taken steps to keep disruption to a minimum by scheduling the repairs to take place overnight.

“Every effort will be made to reduce any impact to road users during this scheme and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and to allow some additional time for travel.
