Getting to know you

He’s best known as gangster, Leonard “Lenny” Murdoch, in River City. Luckily Frank Gallagher was gentle with us when he answered our questions

Q What’s the best thing about playing a gangster in River City? A I can do things that I couldn’t do in real life.

Q What would be your dream role? A Any role in The Godfather.

Q Your house is on fire, what one item do you save? A Definitely my phone.

Q Happiest memory? A My wedding day.

Q And most embarrassi­ng? A Too many to mention.

Q Early bird or night owl? A Early Bird – at my age it’s essential.

Q Theme song for your life? A “Little old wine drinker me” by Dean Martin.

Q First thing you’d do if you won £1 million? A Spend it on the necessitie­s, such as a world cruise.

Q What would be your last meal on earth?

A Slow cooked pork with mashed potatoes, gravy, broccoli, onions and a bottle of Rioja.

Q Dream dinner party guests? A James Cagney, Marlon Brando, Elvis and of course my partner.

Q Home or abroad? A Great to go away but better to come home.

Q Save it or spend it? A Spend it – no pockets in a shroud.

Q Quiet night in or big night out? A Quiet night in every time with my feet up.

Q City break or weekend in the country? A City break: Berlin, Prague, Krakow and any other European cities.

Q Couch potato or fitness fanatic? A Both – I have a swim and use the gym every day and then sit about on the couch.

Q Rebel rebel or teacher’s pet? A I was a disgrace to the education system.

Q Early or late? A Punctual (doesn’t always happen though).

Q If you could turn back the clock what one thing would you change? A Making an arse of myself so frequently when I was young.

Q Cats or dogs? A Dogs are a man’s best friend – and I’m allergic to cats.

Q Biggest regret? A Non, je ne regrette rien.

Q What are you proudest of? A My family.

Q Who do you admire most? A Brendan Rodgers and the Lisbon Lions.

Q And who do you detest? A Any elitist.

Q What advice would you give to your younger self? A Behave a bit better, don’t drink so much and keep the heid down.

A Everyone who turns up to the show tonight. Seriously, we’ve had great audiences everywhere and it’s a unique opportunit­y for the Celtic family to celebrate.
