Get out and about and explore our area’s rich history with a trip to one of these great events over the summer months. Explore the Tower House Elcho Castle, Perth Saturday July 8 Take a tour of one of Scotland’s best-preserved 16th Century tower houses.

Enjoy Elcho Castle’s attractive setting by the silvery Tay and admire its imposing exterior, with its profusion of gun holes at ground level.

Then step inside the well-preserved, roofed interior and see the precious remains of decorated plasterwor­k.

This event runs from 11am-12.30pm. Entry is included in the normal admission price but booking is essential.

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanie­d by an adult. Woodland skills Stanley Mills, Perthshire Thursdays July 6, 13, 20 and 27. 11am-2pm Come along to Stanley Mills and join the rangers in a fun session exploring a range of woodland activities.

From bushcraft skills to bug hunting, environmen­tal art to helping conserve the site, each session will allow you to explore the woodlands in new ways and find adventure under every log.

They are aimed at young people aged 10-14 years of age and a parent/ guardian. Packed lunch required.

This event is free but booking in advance is essential. The Old House Sunnybrae Cottage, Pitlochry Sunday August 20 Explore the details of this fascinatin­g Highland home with a complex history.

Sunnybrae Cottage tells a story of how ordinary people lived over a period of 200 years, what their rooms were like, how they kept warm and how they made a living here. Free but booking in advance essential.
