A unique tourist attraction linking the Brechin to Bridge of Dun steam railway with the historic House of Dun was launched with a series of dignified snorts. They came not from the various dignatories who enjoyed the first passenger trip on the line for 40 years but from the 1944 Bagnall Austerity Saddle Tank that will be the prime locomotive for the regular Sunday service. Visitors can now buy a special joint ticket which will allow them to enjoy the steam experience with a visit to the House of Dun.

Flames tore through a Perthshire farm, reducing a huge barn to a charred ruin. Tonnes of baled hay within provided fuel for the fire and the building’s interior swiftly became a raging inferno. Smoke billowed into the air above Bankfoot as it burned, making the fire visible for miles around. Emergency services were scrambled to Belstane Farm on the outskirts of the village. Crews discovered a large shed filled with hay engulfed in flames. They worked to prevent the fire from spreading.
