Wee jobs

-

My allotment compost heap was all used up last year so a new one was started in January.

There always seems to be plenty of material so it soon bulked up.

I turned the heap twice to help with rotting down so now I have compost that is ready to use after just six months.

This will be handy for mulching fruit bushes and trees, as well as for courgettes and pumpkins.

Any left over will be used to get the next heap started. Already there are plenty of spent rhubarb leaves, plus the leaves from old tulips and other bulbs, and now that the potatoes are ready for lifting, the shaws (with no sign of blight) can be added to the heap.
