Plans for west end to go on show

-

Visions for the future of Glenrothes’ west end are to be unveiled to the public this week.

The findings of last month’s Golden Glenrothes charrette will go on display in the Glenwood Library tomorrow evening.

Options for the future of the Glenwood flats will be among some of the projects highlighted as part of a regeneration of the Glenwood, Tanshall and Macedonia areas.

Organisers say razing the block of flats at the shopping centre is just one of three options that will be put to the public following last month’s consultation, with partial demolition or refurbishment also to be suggested.

Involving residents, community groups and businesses and backed by Fife Council, the purpose of the initiative is to develop a short, medium and long-term vision for the area, including a costed masterplan for the Glenwood Centre.

Area manager Norman Laird said: “The response from local people has been fantastic, with some volunteering to canvas their neighbours and communities to get as many people involved in creating a plan and vision for the community.

“Wednesday evening gives people a great chance to hear, see and have a say on the proposals for Glenrothes West.”

It runs from 6pm to 8pm in Glenwood Library and will be preceded by consultation for a new affordable housing project for Cullen Drive and Golf Course Road from 2pm to 6pm.
