Man sentenced for smashing love rival’s window during night

-

A feud between a Dunfermline man and a former friend now going out with his ex-partner ended with a garden ornament being thrown through a window.

Adam Wallace, 22, of William Street, had been ordered not to contact Christopher Godden but went to his home in the middle of the night.

He admitted that on June 4 he breached bail conditions not to contact Mr Godden by going to his home in Urquhart Crescent, shouting at him and smashing a double-glazed window by throwing a garden ornament at it.

He had previously admitted that on June 26 last year he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks in the same street.

Depute fiscal Alex Piper said: “The accused was previously in a relationship which ended and his ex-partner then entered into a relationship with Mr Godden, which the accused was not happy about it.”

The depute said Wallace had attempted to arrange a fight with Mr Godden, who failed to turn up.

“At 3.15am Mr Godden was at home with his partner and they were both asleep,” he continued.

“They heard a male voice outside shouting.”

In the latter incident, Mr Godden and his partner were again sleeping at 3am when they were disturbed by Wallace shouting in the street. They then heard a smash from downstairs and discovered the ornament thrown through a window.

Sheriff Charles MacNair said: “We don’t allow duelling with fists and haven’t done so for a very long time.”

The sheriff imposed restriction of liberty orders for four months and 140 days respectively.
