Woman’s sex assault ordeal on nature walk

Police want to trace female cyclist who might have informatio­n on attack

A 28-year-old woman has been sexually assaulted on a disused railway line in Dundee.

Police are appealing for informatio­n to trace the culprit after the incident at the Miley nature walk, near Harefield Road, at around 3.50pm on Wednesday.

The woman was walking along the path when she was approached by a man who banged into her and then sexually assaulted her.

Police say she was shocked but unhurt by the incident.

The man is described as being aged between 17 and 25, 5ft 10in, of stocky build with broad shoulders.

He was naked above the waist but had a red top tied around him. He was also wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and a two-tone coloured baseball cap.

Officers are keen to trace a woman who was in the area at the time.

She was on a cycle and is described as in her sixties, with long grey or silver hair, tied back in a long braid. Her bike is described as being green.

A Police Scotland spokeswoma­n said: “We would appeal to this woman to come forward.

“Anyone with any informatio­n that may be useful should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting CR/18132/17 or speak to any police officer.

“Alternativ­ely, informatio­n can be passed anonymousl­y via the charity Crimestopp­ers on 0800 555 111.”

The Miley is part of the old Dundee to Newtyle railway and is now a wildlife site.
