Poly perfect for Falmouth at festival

RACING: O’Brien’s filly looks set to go one better than last two outings

- THE FERRET

ROLY POLY has had to settle for second on her two most recent outings, but can claim the spotlight by winning the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes on day two of the July Festival at Newmarket.

Aidan O’Brien’s filly won the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes on the corresponding card a year ago and, while she has failed to visit the winner’s enclosure since, she has run several excellent races in defeat.

She was only very narrowly beaten by stablemate Brave Anna in the Cheveley Park Stakes last autumn and she has also filled the runner-up spot twice at the highest level this season, finding only Winter too strong in both the Irish 1,000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Roly Poly likes the track, is talented, and battle-hardened, and looks certain to be involved in the finish.

It could be yet another profitable day for the formidable combination of O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore, with CLEMMIE a leading candidate for the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes.

The daughter of Galileo is bred for the job as a full-sister to this year’s dual 2000 Guineas hero Churchill and, like her sibling, she shaped with abundant promise when third on her racecourse debut at the Curragh.

Unlike Churchill, Clemmie was unable to open her account on her second start at Royal Ascot, but she was not disgraced in finishing seventh in the Albany for one so inexperienced.

She showed the benefit of that run when bolting up in a Group Three back on home turf recently.

While Nyaleti looks a formidable opponent, Clemmie is just preferred.

Meanwhile, YES DADDY looks good for the Finest Collection Of Racing On Racing Uk Handicap at Musselburgh. SELECTIONS: MUSSELBURGH: 5.55 Cheeni, 6.25 Cape Bunting, 6.55 Chemical Charge, 7.25 Kinloch Pride, 8.00 Inglorious, 8.35 Yes Daddy, 9.10 Miskin.

NEWMARKET: 1.50 Makzeem, 2.25 Clemmie, 3.00 Titi Makfi, 3.35 ROLY POLY (NAP), 4.10 Merchant Marine, 4.45 Being There, 5.20 Global Giant, 5.50 Time Zone.

DOUBLE: Roly Poly and Clemmie.
